Pro Bowl receiver Steve Smith surprised fans of the Giants after signing a one-year contract Wednesday with its rivals the Philadelphia Eagles just two days after the visit with the staff of the Giants. The contract was made hours after Coach Tom Coughlin was reported that the p-layers were delighted to see Smith back into the building. In a Wednesday evening conference call Smith said, “This is a business, man, and it's tough. General Manager Jerry Reese had extended a contract offer to the receiver when free agency opened just a few weeks back. The Eagles, they really pushed hard. Smith had to suffer through micro-fracture surgery in December, and the Giants had revealed their keenness to maintain Smith’s services.
